1. Currency

In Switzerland, the currency is the Swiss franc (CHF). 1 CHF is divided into 100 cents.

Foreign currencies can be exchanged for CHF at Swiss banks, Geneva's airport, major train stations (western union), and major hotels

Credit cards are widely accepted.

2. Time Zone and Weather

Geneva is in the Central European zone (G.M.T +1).

The average temperature in summer is 23ÂșC, with a clear sky, low humidity and cool breezes from the lake.

3. Phone and Internet on your Smartphone

The dialling code for Switzerland is +41. Please remember to check your own country's code before you travel.

Wi-Fi is available free of charge throughout the conference centre.

There are several public places providing free Wi-Fi access around the city, including:

  • Geneva's lakefront 
  • La Perle du Lac 
  • Conservatory and Botanical Gardens 
  • Parc de la Grange et parc des Eaux-Vives

6. Plug, Socket and Voltage in Switzerland

In Switzerland the power sockets are of type J SEV 1011 (3-pin), however, European type C CEE 7/16 do fit as well. For all other plugs an adaptor is needed. The standard voltage is 230 V and the standard frequency is 50 Hz.
